Medical examinations, travel vaccinations, and consultations

The Medical Centre for Seamen Amsterdam provides medical examinations, travel vaccinations, and medical consultations at the general practitioner level for seafarers and barge operators.

Our practice is equipped like a standard general practice with more extensive laboratory facilities, so consultations can usually be completed in-house while a ship is in port.

For specialized medical care, we usually refer to the OLVG in Amsterdam, with which we have a long-standing working relationship and which also specializes in the care of seafarers.

The practice is also involved in providing medical advice to seafarers at sea through the Radio Medical Service of the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM).

Medical Examinations

The Medical Centre for Seamen Amsterdam has been appointed by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT, Shipping domain) to perform maritime inspections (=shipping inspections) and inland navigation inspections, including the Rhine Skipper's Patent.

The practice is also accredited to perform medical examinations for seamen sailing under the Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish flags, as well as for the flag states of Panama and Liberia.

We also provide medical examinations for major cruise lines.

Travel Vaccinations

The Medical Centre for Seamen Amsterdam provides travel vaccinations for general practitioner patients, seamen, and barge operators.

Note: In some cases, you can claim the cost of travel vaccinations from your health insurance. Our doctors are LCR-accredited. You can check this with your health insurance company. Medical Consultations

The Medical Centre for Seamen Amsterdam provides medical consultations at the general practitioner level for seafarers and bargees.

Our practice is equipped like a standard general practice, with more extensive laboratory facilities so that consultations can usually be completed in-house while a ship is in port.

If you require a medical consultation, you can visit us during office hours.

If specialized medical care is required, we usually refer you to the OLVG hospital in Amsterdam, with which we have a long-standing working relationship and which also specializes in the care of seafarers.

The practice is also involved in providing medical advice to seafarers at sea through the Radio Medical Service of the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM).
